This piece was written for the Texas State University Chorale in the fall of 2025. At the time, Dr. Joey Martin had just commissioned Jake Runestad to write something for us which would later become the work  called Footprints. Jake’s piece talks about how every step we take, carries the imprint of those who walked before us. The theme inspired me so much that I  asked Joey if I could write a piece to pair with that work. I used the same theme but decided to go about it in a different way. What if not only are you walking into footprints left before you/leaving more for the people after you, but also leaving these footprints and following them with others such as someone you love or care for? I thought it would be amazing to think of that journey being one not taken alone.
