When I was writing this piece, I had written it for one of my Soprano friends, Mackenzie Reyes. This piece was part of a large work called “From Greek Myth”. Later on, I had gotten the opportunity to do a mentorship with the New Cannon Project (thanks to the lovely Allyssa Jones). This mentorship involved people, black and Latine, being partnered up with another seasoned composer to write a piece and then being partnered up with a school to collaborate with. Once done, it would be presented at National ACDA in 2025. I found myself finding MORE music within the music of the original version I created, and wanted others to be able to experience it. So with that said, I created a version perfect for SSA treble choir (with the help of the amazing Mari Esabel Valverde as my mentor).
