I first started the concept of this piece in 2020 during the height of COVID. At the time, there had been a composition contest involving setting one of three poems provided. This poem, Invitation to Love, was one of three poems I was the most interested in setting to music. Unfortunately, I could not get past two pages of music before getting stuck in a corner. I eventually, set the piece aside hopeful, yet unsure if I would ever come back to finish the piece. In the summer of 2025, Victor Briseño, a good friend, and the assistant choir director of Killeen High School, reached out about commissioning me for a choral piece for his Varsity Treble Choir. I was ecstatic and said yes without even considering the poem I would use. As I was drafting ideas, something made me return to the draft of Invitation to Love so many years ago. With six years passing, I found myself feeling extra inspired. This piece is a culmination of my writing and ideas of love from so years ago, and now. This piece was premiered at KHS’s pre-UIL concert and UIL contest.
