Around the summer of 2025, one of my fellow classmates, Jon Thoma reached out to me about writing a string orchestra piece for the group he was conducting called, Texas State University Camerata Orchestra. At this point, I felt like a decently seasoned composer for string instruments and had recently just released a string quartet album, so I felt pretty strong about writing something a bit more larger scale. When Jon Thoma told me that this piece would be performed for the winter, I especially was excited as not only is strings one of my favorite things to compose for....but Christmas is something I love writing about. This piece is a reflection of both of some of my favorite things.
